First
Finding : combination of Asphalt called drainage (rubber added) called
Drainsphalt in Brussels of Belgium in 1981. according to the various research up
to now, it has been verified that noise is reduced by 65% to 85%
|
- Research of decrease in noise
¤ýDrainasphalt(Open Graded Hot Mix) ¤ýLocation and year : Motorway
South of Ghent(Brussels, Belgium) in 1981 ¤ýResearcher : Chairman of Asphalt
Pavement Committee in Bonn of Germany, Mr. E. Nakkel ¤ýResult : noise
reduction 8-10dB or 75% |
- Drainasphalt(Open Graded Hot Mix)
¤ýLocation and year : pavement around Chenue River in Paris
France in 1984 ¤ýMichel Amilhat, Societe des Autoroute Nord et de l'est de La
France ¤ýResult : noise reduction by 3-5dB(no Trucks). 2-3dB(5% Trucks),
50-70% overlay of rubber asphalt introduction is actively recommended in
the road of Paris as a result of noise reduction. |
- Installation of soundproofing wall
¤ýHorst Pochhacker, explained Drainsphalt constructed in Bonn,
Germany in 1980 at the conference : only 10% of the cost of installation of
sound proof wall is required in case of using rubber asphalt covering. ¤ýE :
Nakkel reported that the effect of noise reduction is increased as the thickness
of Drainasphalt is increased. In other words, noise is lower in case of 4cm
pavement rather than that of 2cm and also noise is reduced by minimum
3dB,50% |
- Pavement with rubber asphalt 2.3inch(6cm)
¤ýLocation and year : test road (Belgium) in 1988 ¤ýResearcher : Heerkens
and Von Meier ¤ýOutcome : 3.5dB noise reduction in comparison with
conventional hot-mixed asphalt pavement in case of 72mph(120km) and 9dB in
comparison with cement pavement (noise reduction 60- 80%)
|
- Draining Mix
¤ýLocation and year : Europe in 1989 ¤ýResearcher : rubber
aspahlt Bituman was used at pavement construction according to Van de Veld,
report. ¤ýOutcome : noise reduction of 3dB-10dB in case of velocity of
35mph(60km)- 60mph(100km) by 50-90% |
- Gap Gradded AR Hot Mix(1inch)
¤ýLocation and year : Phenix in Arizona state in 1990
¤ýResearcher : Western Technologies ¤ýOutcome : noise reduction by 6.7dB,
78%. Specifically 80.4dB in comparison with cement pavement and 73.7dB in
comparison with drain (rubber added) asphalt pavement.
|
- Open Graded AR Hot Mix Overlay on Cement Concrete
Pavement
¤ýLocation and year : national
motorway No.19 in the southern part of USA in 1989 Tuscan ¤ýresearcher :
WesternTechnologies ¤ýoutcome : noise reduction by 6.7dB, 78%. Specifically
80.4dB in comparison with cement pavement and 73.7dB in comparison with drain
(rubber added) asphalt pavement. |
- Rubber asphalt Conference (Austria in 1988)
¤ýLocation and year : Austria A-9 highway,
Pyhrnam Autobahn, Inntal Mortorway in 1988 ¤ýResearcher : Helmut Prager,
Austrian engineer ¤ýOutcome : 4-5cm produces better noise reduction compared
to 3cm. noise if reduced by more than 3dB, 50% when it is covered to old
stone road.
|
- Drainasphalt Overlay(1985, 1987), AR 6.6%
used
¤ýLocation and year : Autobahn in 1988
¤ýResearcher : E.Reinish ¤ýOutcome : noise reduction of 6dB,75% |
