ECOPHALT- 'Environment-friendly' Asphalt Ecophalt is made up of permeable Asphalt compounds with 20% opening. It is called 'Porous Asphalt, Drain Asphalt, or Silent Asphalt' overseas. Ecophalt using Asphalt additive (DAMA) prevents plastic deformation during the summer season and decrease brittle fractures in winter, thereby drastically enhancing durability of pavement. Its production process is simple. It is manufactured when powdered asphalt additive(DAMA) wrapped in thermoplastic vinyl is directly poured into plant-mixer. ECOPHALT is a compound of open particles and requires more intensive management of the mixing time and temperature than closed particle compounds. Other details are in compliance with ECOPHALT compound standards. Pavement work of ECOPHALT compounds is carried out by use of the existing asphalt pavement facilities and vibration compaction is not needed. ECOPHALT compound is open particles and so temperature falling comes more quickly than in the case of closed particles. Therefore, special attention should be given to temperature management. Other details shall be in accordance with ECOPHALT CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS. On completion of ECOPHALT pavement work, Water-drain test and noise test might be conducted to inspect its functional capabilities and other quality controls and inspections shall be in accordance with the asphalt pavement plan & construction standards.
